Mark Covert's 38 plus year running odyssey
Mark Covert has celebrated the 38th anniversary of his running at least three miles (4.828 kilometers) every day. Covert marked the occasion by working out with his cross country team on the morning of July 23rd.
Then on July 29, 2006 Covert’s streak became the longest ever, eclipsing Bob Ray’s 38 years, five day mark..
On its 38th anniversary, the streak had encompassed 13,879 days and 135,897 miles. In these 13,879 days, Covert put in his miles despite a broken foot, minor surgery, his wedding and the birth of his four children. The Streak has been featured on NBC’s Today Show as well as in various media throughout the country.
