LANCASTER - It wasn't the auspicious start to the Western States Conference season that the Marauder baseball had hoped for against Glendale College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vaqueros exploded for five runs in the fourth inning and six runs in the sixth for an easy 11-1 victory at Antelope Valley College.

The top of the lineup for AVC was solid as the 1-2-3 hitters, Aron Avila, Travis Tarnoff and Ian Nelson collected two hits each. However, the remainder of the lineup was only 1-for-22. That one hit came off the bat of Timothy Dodd who singled in Avila in the bottom of the eighth inning for AVC's sole run.

Clayton Rabiej had a rough outing on the bump for the Marauders. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing 10 hits, 11 runs (six earned), and walked four batters. Hunter Greenough came in relief of Rabiej and shut down the rest of the Glendale hitters. Greenough pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing only one hit while striking out three.
