AVC Men's Baseball lost a doubleheader to Bakersfield College on Saturday, 7-4, and 9-6. The Marauders fell behind early in game one and tried to rally back behind a Jordan Wilson 2-RBI home run late in the seventh inning. McKinley O'Connor also contributed offensively, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. George Mercado went 1-for2 with a triple as Preston Johnson faced 29 batters with two strikeouts in a losing effort.
Wilson and Mercado again provided much of the firepower in game two as they both went 2-for-3 with two RBI. This time it was Mercado with the home run in the fourth inning to tie the game 4-4. Mercado also struck out six of 26 batters faced on the mound. The Renegades homered in the sixth inning to take the lead, but AVC tied it back up when Nathan Brockbank doubled to score Jordan Wilson. The game slipped away as BC scored three more runs in the eighth and ninth innings. AVC scored one more run on a wild pitch in the ninth to make the final score 6-9.
The Marauders finished the season series with Bakersfield 1-3. They will face Oxnard College at home on Thursday and again in Oxnard on Saturday.
