LANCASTER - The Marauder football team was originally scheduled to travel to Bakersfield College on Thursday to face the Renegades in the preseason scrimmage for both teams for the second time in as many years.

Sure the Marauders will still face their fore 95 miles to the north, but it will take place at Marauder Stadium on Thursday at 6pm. Due to some field some issues that Bakersfield is trying to fix, the game was moved to Antelope Valley College.

"It's going to be great to compete against someone with a different color jersey other than our own," AVC head coach Perry Jehlicka said. "It's always good to compete against a quality opponent. This will definitely help us prepare for the season."

Prior to the beginning of last season, the Marauders traveled to Bakersfield for their scrimmage as well. Jehlicka said that prior to last season, his team hadn't had a preseason scrimmage in about eight years.

"I think we're in good shape right now," he said. "I'm very pleased where we're at. This will be a good test for us. The good thing is there is still practice time after this scrimmage and we can iron out any wrinkles."

AVC opens at home on Sept. 2 against College of the Canyons. The Renegades' season opener will also be at home when they host Allan Hancock on Sept. 2.
