MARAUDER FOOTBALL'S ROBINSON NAMED AMERICAN PACIFIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF YEAR; 13 OTHERS NAMED ALL-AP

Fourteen Marauders were named to the All-American Pacific Conference teams, it was announced today.  The Marauders were 5-5 overall, 3-2 and tied for second in conference.

Included in the 14 was Perry Jehlicka's fourth Defensive Player of the Year in Robert Robinson.  Robinson led the Marauders in tackles for loss (14 for 63 yards), sacks (7 for 49 yards) and forced fumbles (4).  The sack total was fourth best in the American Pacific.  He is the fourth Defensive Player of the Year in Jehlicka's 11 years, and the first since 2009 when Chris Whitney took the honor.

Four Marauders were named First Team All-Conference including the No. 1 and No. 2 receievers in the American Pacific - Jordan Wayne and John Johnson.  Wayne led in receiving yards per game in the AP as well as recieving TDs.  Outside Linebacker Darrell Dorris was the top tackler for the Marauders, while Kevin Smith, who was seventh in tackles, but also third in rushing (in just three games on offense), was tabbed as Utility Player.

Named to the Second team were Defensive Linemen Julian Cueto and Turan Rush, Inside Linbackers Noah Hopper and Kevin Bridgewater, Defensive Backs Bryan Mills, Tyron Barnes and Deron Ramsey, AVC's top Running Back DJ Payne and Offensive Lineman Jakorian Jones.
