VALLEY GLEN - What's going on with the Marauder men's basketball team?
It's only been a few weeks since the Marauders had won eight in a row, 11 of 12 and 15 of 17 and broke back into the state's top 20 poll.
One of those victories included a 39-point beat down of Wednesday night's opponent, LA Valley College, on Jan. 18.
But that was a few weeks ago.
Since then AVC has struggled, including uncharacteristic home losses to Citrus College and Barstow College, a team the Marauders had already defeated twice earlier in the season. In fact, AVC had to squeak out a two-point victory against a sub-par Glendale team.
The Marauders recent struggles continued as they dropped a game against LA Valley on Wednesday night, 66-64, at LA Valley College.
With the loss, AVC, which has dropped three of its last four games, all but spoiled any chances of it clinching a conference title. Now the Marauders have to worry about even making the playoffs.
AVC dropped to a tie for third place with LA Valley with a 4-3 conference record behind Barstow (5-2) and Citrus (6-1).
