LANCASTER - Joshua Cummings, coming off a second place finish in the 400 meters two weeks ago, bettered that performance with a personal best of 47.91 winning the event, Friday afternoon at Antelope Valley College.
Cummings' personal best was set two weeks ago on the same track in which he ran 48.30 finishing right behind Ventura College's Tristan Griffith (48.22). On Friday, Cummings edged out College of the Canyons' Robert Brennan at the tape. Brennan clocked 47.96, his best mark of the season. AVC'S Jordan Rayfield finsihed seventh, running his best time of the season at 51.02.
AVC's Kyle Schilling once again won two events. Schilling took home titles in the shot put (45-03.00) and the discus (139-10). He also finished second in the hammer with a toss of 158-00, finishing behind teammate Ryan Alvarez (163-06). The Marauders wrapped up the hat trick in the hammer as John Jablonski finished third (135-07).
Joshua Fatherree finished second in the javelin (154-11). Glendale College's Matthew Velasco won the event at 155-08.
COC finished first in team scoring at 190 points, followed by Glendale (134), Bakersfield College (98) and AVC (80).
