LANCASTER - Marauder Softball won their conference home opener 4-2 against LA Mission College. Pitching sensation Briana Garrett (1-0) was dominant in the circle striking out 16 of 27 batters faced. She threw an impressive 53 strikes out of 75 pitches, stepping up the most every time AVC needed an out.
The Marauder bats did not disappoint either as AVC jumped out to a 2-0 lead off of back-to-back HRs by Camrynn Stanbro and Kaitlyn Cronin in the 2nd inning. Cronin homered again in the 6th inning and finished 2-3 with 2 HRs and 2 RBIs. Stanbro finished 2-3 also with 1 HR and 1 RBI. Shortstop Isabelle Gomez went 2-4 at the plate.
AVC showed intense energy, grit, and determination to start their conference play with a victory. Marauder Softball is now 7-5 overall (1-0 Conf.). Be there as they battle Southwestern in a double-header on Friday, March 1st at AVC.
