GLENDORA - Deja Smith scored 27 points, but it was not enough as the slumping Marauder women's basketball team lost on the second day of the Citrus College Crossover against Santa Barbara, 74-63, Saturday afternoon.

"We didn't shoot the ball well and we turned it over," AVC head coach Barry Green said. "It's difficult to figure out what we do well most of the time. This is a disappointing loss for us. Now we definitely have to win our league (to make playoffs). We shot ourselves in the foot."

For the second night in a row the Marauders had a poor shooting night. On Friday against Moorpark, AVC shot a season low 21 percent and against the Vaqueros, the Marauders only shot 32 percent, while Santa Barbara shot 50 percent overall.

Aniyah Terry finished with nine points and nine rebounds, while Smith added six rebounds and five assists. Shantanel Bivens, AVC's leading rebounder, was plagued with foul trouble and only finished with two points and four rebounds.

The Marauders defeated Santa Barbara earlier this season, 61-52, in mid-November.
