LANCASTER - The 2017 season kicks off for the Marauder women's soccer team today when AVC travels to Ridgecrest to face Cerro Coso College.

Last season the Marauders got off to a great start with a 5-2-5 record but struggled in conference play going 0-7-1.

Still the Marauders should have a better season this year under second-year head coach Charles Gordon.

Sure AVC lost Mackenzie Broderick who took her talents to play at the next level, but AVC does return two All-Conference players in Cindy Martin and Diana Paz. Martin finished with five goals on the season, including a hat trick in one of those games. Paz added two goals on the season and Gabriela Espinoza has a year under her belt at goal keeper and will be solid in the box. Espinoza finished last season with 101 saves and three shutouts.

The Marauders are young this season with only six of the 22 rostered players being sophomores.
