WILSON SMOKES FIELD IN 800, WYNN IMPRESSES IN THROWS

BAKERSFIELD - Angela Wilson kept her winning streak in tact as she blew away the field in the 800 meters, Friday afternoon in the Western States Conference finals at Bakersfield College.

"One of the girls (N'Finity Lindley of West LA College) was right on me for at least 500 (meters). She clipped my heel and I knew it was time to turn it on. Once I was around the 400 mark I knew I had to go," said Wilson, who has failed to be challenged all season.

Wilson easily won the race as she clocked a 2:15.97 nearly five seconds better than Lindley. Her season best is 2:15.96. Lindley finished second in 2:20.77.

"I was on pace to run a 2:12. I mean I'm happy, but it's a little disappointing that I didn't lower my time," Wilson said. "I know I have the ability. I'm definitely looking forward to the challenge. I get nervous, but knowing it's getting down to the bigger meets, I'm excited for the competition."

Brittani Wynn helped the Marauders score points as she finished second in the hammer throw (131-02) and fifth in the discus (105-06). Teammate Anna-Helene Augusta added another point for AVC as she threw 104-07 in the hammer, finishing eighth.
