Following a 27-15 2025 season in which they reached the playoffs, Antelope Valley College Baseball scored three wins to open their 2026 season.
The Marauders won the first game 12-1 on Friday in Barstow, followed by 15-5 and 8-2 wins at home on Saturday.
Series leaders include Arrington Eason, who had a team-high 7 hits with 4 RBI, Jacob Baxter, who had a team-high 5 RBI off 5 hits, and Quentin Starbuck, who totaled 6 hits and 4 RBI, including a 5th inning solo homerun in game 1 of the series.
Drew Watkins had 4 RBI off 4 hits, while Cody Rollings (5 hits) and Jayden Steinhurst (6 hits) batted in 3 runs each.
On the mound, Sophomore Ashton Fitzpatrick pitched 6 of 7 innings in Barstow and struck out 9 of 23 batters faced while giving up just 1 run. Jacob Maldonado struck out 7 in just over 4 innings of work in game 2.
In game 3, Drew Lueders struck out 7 in just over 5 innings, while Aidan Morgan logged 5 Ks in relief.
"I thought there were a lot of notable performers in this series... Ashton Fitzpatrick really set the tone for us with his performance on the mound, and Jacob Baxter was a key performer defensively and within our lineup," said head coach Bryan Moses. "It's always nice to start the year with three wins," added Moses, who is in his fifth season leading the Marauders.
Next up for AVC is a home contest against Porterville College on Jan. 29.
