Marauder Baseball scored an 11-3 win over Porterville College and a 13-1 loss to Allan Hancock.
Thursday's win over the Pirates saw plenty of offense as AVC's 11 runs came off 13 hits. The Marauders scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning, 4 runs in the 6th inning, and 4 runs in the 7th. Quentin Starbuck went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, while Brandon Hennessy batted in 3 runs, going 2-for-3.
Drew Watkins recorded 2 RBI and a hit, and both Arrington Eason (1 hit) and Jayden Steinhurst had an RBI on the day.
Starting pitcher Ashton Fitzpatrick was efficient, throwing 57 of 81 pitches for a strike, and striking out 7 batters on the way to his second win of the season. Gilbert Beltran and Camden Clark combined for 3 innings of relief, with Clark logging 1 strikeout.
After Thursday's win, the Marauders took their 4-0 record on the road to Allan Hancock College and suffered their first loss of the season. AVC had 5 hits (Gavin Klennert 2, Quentin Starbuck, Jayden Steinhurst), but scored only 1 run courtesy of a Drew Watkins double in the 5th inning. Starter Drew Lueders managed 3 K's in 4 innings of work.
AVC will next battle LA Pierce at home on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 2;00 pm, followed by a second matchup against Allan Hancock on Friday at 2:00 pm.
