Antelope Valley College Baseball won two of their last three contests, including an 8-7 win over LA Pierce that lasted 15 innings on Thursday.
On Thursday, sophomore Gavin Klennert led the charge offensively against the Brahmas with 4 RBI, including 3 sacrifice hits, and scored on a wild pitch.
Connor Baughman and Quentin Starbuck both recorded sacrifice RBI's on the day. Baughman's sac-fly to center field drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 15th. Drew Watkins, Cy Berge, Cody Rollings, and Brandon Hennessy all logged hits. The Marauders totaled 8 hits and committed 2 errors in the win.
Six pitchers saw action in the long duel, including winning pitcher Zachary Stevens (2.0 IP). Camden Clark (4.2 IP) struck out 6, while Aidan Morgan (3.0 IP) and starter Jacob Draper (4.0 IP) struck out 4 batters each.
In Friday's 7-1 loss to Allan Hancock, AVC managed 1 run off 8 hits with 1 error. It was Antelope Valley's second loss of the season to the Bulldogs.
The Marauders returned to the diamond again on Saturday, defeating Coalinga College 13-5. AVC jumped on the Falcons right away, putting up 3 runs in the first inning and 5 runs in the second inning. They totaled 19 hits and were led by sophomore Elias Frainier's 6-RBI performance. Frainier went 5-for-5, including two doubles and a triple.
Jayden Steinhurst recorded 2 RBI, while Armando Saucedo (3-5), Jacob Baxter (2-4), Drew Watkins (2-4), Cody Rollings (2-5), and Gavin Klennert (2-4) had an RBI each.
Starter Drew Lueders (W, 2-1) was efficient in 6 innings of work, throwing 61 of 88 pitches for strikes, and striking out 6 batters. Jacob Maldonado struck out 2 batters in just over 2 innings of work.
Antelope Valley is 6-2 and will face Cerro Coso on the road on Feb. 10, before returning home to face them on Feb. 12 at 1:00 pm.
