Antelope Valley College Baseball has won 7 of their last 8 contests, dating back to February 7th's 16-7 win over Coalinga. They have since posted two wins over Cerro Coso (10-2, 6-2), wins over Porterville (10-8) and Victor Valley (27-0), and two wins over San Francisco (22-0, 26-5).
The Marauders have posted an incredible 122 runs over the last 8 games, including an 8-5 loss to Taft.
"Our players have been prepared. We've played some odd games in some cold weather. I'm encouraged with our performance, and I'm looking forward to the start of conference play," commented head coach Bryan Moses.
AVC moved up three spots to #11 in the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association Poll. "It always feels good to be recognized by your peers. We take great pride in our program moving in a positive direction. This ranking helps us feel like we are doing a lot of the right things," added Moses.
Team leaders include Jayden Steinhurst with a team-best 25 RBI and second-best 24 hits, including home runs against Cerro Coso and Porterville.
Elias Frainier has a team-leading 25 hits, including 8 doubles and 19 RBI. Drew Watkins, Quentin Starbuck, and Cody Rollings have 20 hits each with 20 runs batted in for Watkins, and 2 home runs for Starbuck. Rollings belted his first home run of the season against Taft and went 4-5 with 3 RBI in the San Francisco series.
Pitchers Ashton Fitzpatrick (4-1) and Drew Lueders (3-1) have provided consistency for the Marauders, with Aidan Morgan, Zachary Stevens, and Jacob Maldonado making meaningful contributions on the mound as well.
The Marauders are on the road for game two of their series against Taft, before returning home to start conference play against Bakersfield on March 3 at 2:00 pm.
