Antelope Valley College Baseball won two of three games in their Western State Conference series against the LA Valley Monarchs.
The Marauders scored 51 runs over the three games, including a 29-18 win in Game 1 at LA Valley. Quentin Starbuck (3-for-6) and Jayden Steinhurst (5-for-7) had 6 RBI each. Steinhurst's hits included his team-leading third home run of the season. He also has a team-best .411 batting average and 37 hits.
Connor Baughman went 4-for-5 with 4 RBI, while Cody Rollings, Armando Saucedo, and Jacob Baxter recorded 2 RBI each. Baxter had 3 hits, one of which was his first home run of the year. The Marauders totaled 26 hits with no errors in the win. Five different pitchers saw action with Aidan Morgan (2.1 IP), Camden Clark (2.2 IP), and Drew Lueders (1.1 IP) striking out 2 batters each.
In Game 2's 15-4 home win, AVC had 19 hits. Gavin Klennert (3-for-4), Drew Watkins (3-for-5), and Cody Rollings (2-for-5) had 3 RBI each. Starter Jacob Draper had 6 strikeouts in just over 3 innings of work, while Jacob Maldonado pitched 3 innings in relief with 2 strikeouts.
AVC had 7 hits while committing 2 errors in Game 3's 10-6 loss. Elias Frainier recorded 2 RBI, as pitcher Ashton Fitzpatrick faced 22 batters, and threw 43 of 70 pitches for strikes.
The series win gives the Marauders an overall record of 16-6, and a 3-3 (3rd Place) record in the Western State-South Conference. They'll play a game at Coalinga and two games at Victor Valley before returning home to start their 3-game conference series against LA Mission on March 24 at 2:00 pm.
