GLENDORA - The Marauder football team has been dominant at home this season with a 3-0 record.
Unfortunately for the Marauders, they are on the road this Saturday afternoon at Citrus College in the conference opener for both teams. AVC is 0-2 on the road this season with losses coming to College of the Canyons and College of the Desert.
However, the Marauders are coming off their bye week and it couldn't have come at a better time. AVC used the week off to heal some nicks and bruises.
Quarterback Blake Shepherd is less than 100 yards from breaking the 4,000-yard mark for his career. He has still yet to have that breakout game this season as he has not completed 50 percent of his passes in any game this season. Still Shepherd should easily break that mark as the Owls are allowing 222 pass yards per game.
AVC (3-2) defeated previously unbeaten Mt. San Jacinto College two weeks age, 28-14, at Marauder Stadium. Freshman running back Cole Starnes filled in for an injured Tre Coleman and had a career night. Starnes rushed for 145 yards on 22 carries and scored on 64-yard touchdown run.
Citrus (3-2) opened the season with an impressive start by winning its first three games. The Owls defeated their opponents 130-71 during that stretch. But since Citrus has faltered with a 2-game losing streak to Southwestern College and Victor Valley College. They have been outscored 70-35 in those losses.
In this week's poll, Citrus is ranked No. 4 in the Southern California-American Division, while the Marauders came in at No. 6.
