
Tyler Selvig passed for seven touchdowns and ran for one as Marauder Football ended its regular season play with a 60-33 road win over the Victor Valley Rams on Saturday.
AVC had its second highest offensive output of the year with 434 total yards. After a Victor Valley fumble on their first possession, the Marauders went 22 yards in four plays and scored when Tyler Selvig connected with Jaylen O'Neil for a 6-yard touchdown pass. Selvig tossed two more TD passes in the first quarter, a 15-yarder to Davon Jones, and a 29-yarder to Jaylen Miller with :53 seconds left in the period.
The Marauder defense got on the board early in the second period with a safety. The Rams then finally got on the board with a 50-yard interception returned for a touchdown. With AVC up 30-6, Davon Jones caught his second touchdown pass from Tyler Selvig from 10 yards out. Victor Valley was able to score again before halftime on a 5-yard TD pass.
The Rams appeared to be closing in when they scored first to open up the third quarter bringing the count to 30-19 AVC. But it was the Selvig-Jones combo again that pushed the Marauders up 37-19. This time it was an 8-yard reception on a 9-play, 53-yard drive that lasted 3:38. Antelope Valley's defense came up big again at the end of the third quarter with their second safety of the day, putter the Marauders up 39-19.
Victor Valley again gained momentum to open up the final quarter, going 84 yards in eight plays to score a 35-yard touchdown pass. Tyler Selvig and Davon Jones responded for the fourth time with a 17-yard touchdown pass and catch to put the Marauders up 46-26. The Rams were able to score one last time on a 1-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, but the Marauders kept their foot on the gas as Selvig threw his seventh touchdown pass of the day to Errius Collins. Selvig also rushed for a 25-yard touchdown to close out the game. He finished 31-54 passing for 352 yards and seven touchdowns, and 15 for 60 yards rushing with a touchdown. Davon Jones finished with eight receptions for 86 yards and four touchdowns, while Jaylen Miller finished with seven receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown. Errius Collins had 82 yards receiving and a touchdown off ten catches.
Antonio Lujan led the way on defense with eight tackles, while Luis Arevalo and Augustin Lorfils each had an interception.
The Marauders finished the regular season 7-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play, good for second in the SCFA American Mountain League standings.
