Antelope Valley College Football remains undefeated after a 61-7 road win over the LA Pierce Brahmas. The Marauders dominated on both sides of the ball, totaling 341 yards and 7 touchdowns on offense, 4 interceptions and a touchdown on defense, and one kickoff returned for a touchdown.
AVC's ground attack combined for 138 rushing yards, with Isaiah Morgan (49 yds), Naim Bankhead (26 yds), Darrell Stanley, and Bradly Devoll all recording touchdowns. Luciano Guzman also recorded 56 yards rushing on the day.
John Sanders threw 12 passes for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns to Jevon Walker (82 yds rec), Andrew Garner (38 yds rec), and Daste Lee (8 yds rec). Damario Jackson, last week's SCFA Special Teams Player of the Week, returned a kickoff (87 yards) for a touchdown for a second straight week. Jackson also added 4 receptions for 49 yards, and 44 punt return yards for a total of 180 all-purpose yards on the day.
The Marauders rank 5th in the SCFA (7th in the 3C2A) in total offense, averaging 44.4 points per game with 31 touchdowns.
Defensively, AVC recorded 4 interceptions (Derrick Sterling, Demond Blanchard, Kevin Roland, and Shakir Freeman) and 5 sacks (Jayden Carrillo, Taron Smith, Funaki James, Logan Riles, and Jacob Fraser). Sterling returned his interception 30 yards for a touchdown while Smith added a forced fumble. Matthew Flores added a team-high 7 tackles (6 solo) on the day.
AVC's revamped football program remains undefeated heading into the SCFA's upcoming BYE week. The 5-0 Marauders will face a stout 4-1 Victor Valley team in a Thursday night showdown on Oct. 9 at 6:00 pm at AVC.
