Antelope Valley College Men's Basketball scored a 93-67 home win over the Bakersfield Renegades, and have won two of their last three contests to open WSC Conference play.
The Marauders shot 57% (38-66) from the field while holding the Renegades to 39% (29-73). AVC also sank 9 of 25 three-point attempts to Bakersfield's 4 of 22. Despite losing the rebound advantage, AVC's defense caused 19 turnovers, leading to 30 points.
Amado Coleman lit up the box score with a game-high 27 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and a game-high 6 assists. Mister Burnside recorded a double-double with 20 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Trovary Cavil (Johnston High School / Des Moines, IA) had a solid performance with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Rahjon Chambers scored 9 points with 4 assists, while
Ripine Vagaia scores 7 with 4 rebounds. AJ Duke had 9 points off the bench.
Coleman (18.9) and Burnside (17.0) rank 4th and 5th in the conference in points per game. Coleman also ranks 2nd in rebounds (9.6), 2nd in steals (38), and 3rd in field goal percentage (61.6). Burnside(63) and Trovary Cavil (62) rank inside the top 5 for assists.
The win pushes AVC over .500 with a 9-8 record overall (2-1 in conference). They travel to West LA and Santa Monica before returning home to face Glendale on January 24 at 3:00 pm.
