MEN'S GOLF IMPROVES AT WSC#2 IN ARROYO GRANDE
The Marauders recorded a 335 team score, an 11-stroke improvement from the previous tournament.
Antelope Valley College Men's Golf competed in the Western State Conference #2 tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande.
The Marauders recorded a 335 team score, an 11-stroke improvement from the previous tournament. They finished in 7th place, ahead of host college Allan Hancock.
AVC was led by Tayden Ramos, who recorded an 80, followed by Cody Breuklander's 83. Breuklander had 3 birdies on the day.
Ramos was consistent with his driver and wedge play but struggled with his long irons and putting on the day. "I missed too many putts inside of 10 feet, and I feel like my game is not 100% where it needs to be to be consistently good every match, but I know what I need to do and I know I can do it," said Ramos. "I just need to sharpen up my iron game and putting and I'll be good for the rest of the season."
Jacob Peters 84 shot an 84, and Mark Hamlin had an 88.
"The guys have been putting in a lot of work over the past few weeks, and it's great to see that effort reflected in an improved team score," commented Head Coach Brad Hazard.
"Cody, Tayden, and Jacob have been consistent for us and continue to compete well. They're all capable of shooting in the 70s, and we're looking forward to seeing them put together those lower rounds," he added.
The Marauders continue to look for someone to step up and make an impact in the four spot as they keep pushing to improve as a team.
Their next competition will be on March 9 at Rio Bravo CC, hosted by Bakersfield College.
