Marauder Men's Golf recorded a 7th-place team finish in WSC #7, played at Marshall Ranch Golf Course in LaVern, CA. College of the Canyons (1) and Santa Barbara City (2) finished ahead of host Citrus College.
AVC's team score of 321 was led by Jacob Peters, who shot a 74 (tied for the 6th-best individual score on the day), which was his best score as a Marauder.
"My hybrid off the tee, iron game, and putting were on point for the round. Even though the greens were extremely tough, I was still putting my ball in a good position to keep a good score. After struggling a lot last season, only putting up one score in the 70s, it feels great to be able to perform at a good level in my eyes," commented Peters. The sophomore from Castaic High School in Saugus added, "I'm proud that I'm able to stay consistent and not let a bad hole or shot determine the rest of my round."
Jacob has stepped into a leadership role on this team, and I'm proud of his performance and the decisions he made on the course today," said head coach Brad Hazard.
Tayden Ramos followed closely behind Peters with a 75 for the round. Both Cody Breuklander and Eric David shot 86.
Tayden had consistently played well over his last three rounds, posting scores of 77 at River Ridge, 75 at Rancho, and another 75 at Marshall Canyon (tied for 11th best score of the day). Ramos, a freshman from Quartz Hill High School, has brought his season average down to 78.
"Tayden is a very talented player who faced some challenges early in his freshman season," said Hazard, adding, "It's great to see him now performing at the level we know he's capable of. If he continues this momentum, I expect him to be right in the mix with the top players in the league next week at Soule Park."
The Marauders will next compete in conference tournament #8, hosted by College of the Canyons at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai.
