MEN'S GOLF FALLS JUST SHORT OF POSTSEASON
Marauder Men's Golf recorded a 7th-place finish at the Western State Conference Finals held at Sundale Country Club.
Marauder Men's Golf recorded a 7th-place finish at the Western State Conference Finals held at Sundale Country Club in Bakersfield. AVC's team score of 635 at the 2-round tournament hosted by Bakersfield College placed them ahead of only Allan Hancock College on the leaderboard.
The team came in prepared following a productive practice round on Sunday, but struggled to execute in the opening round. They responded well in round two, improving by 15 shots, though the deficit proved too much to overcome as Glendale qualified for the last team spot.
Freshman Tayden Ramos shot an 81 and a 78, finishing six shots shy of qualifying for Regionals. Two costly holes, a triple, and a double in each round ultimately made the difference.
Eric David's second-round performance was a bright spot for the Marauders. He drove the ball exceptionally well, hitting 12 fairways, finishing with 32 putts, and recording 3 birdies. His score of 74 was the best score of the season for the freshman from Granada Hills.
"Consistency has been a challenge throughout the season, and that showed again today," said head coach Brad Hazard. "Despite falling short of postseason play, I'm proud of how these young men have represented our program and college all year. There's been significant growth across the board, and with four freshmen gaining valuable experience, the future is promising as they return ready to compete," he added.
