Jadis Watson had a 30-rebound, 15-point performance as the Marauders held on to beat Citrus 58-52 on Saturday. Watson's 30 rebounds were a game-high and career-best for the sophomore forward from Lancaster.
The Marauders started out hot behind 12 first-quarter points from Kristen Lopez. Lopez hit four three-pointers, going 4-5 from behind the arc in the opening period. She finished the contest with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Citrus came roaring back in the second quarter, outscoring the Marauder 17-5 to pull within two at the halfway mark. But AVC tightened up on defense and dominated the boards in the second half to secure the win. Antelope Valley outrebounded Citrus 53-31 on the day.
Vanessa Fletes had 11 points to go along with 7 rebounds, while Sara Heier finished with 7 points and 4 rebounds. Sienna Rodriguez ended with 6 points, and Bailey Cassell had 5 points.
The Marauders are now 8-10 overall (1-3 in conference) and will take on West LA and LA Valley on the road before returning home to battle Canyons on Saturday, January 29 at 7:00 pm.
