AVC Women's Basketball stretched their win streak to four games on Wednesday with a 72-47 win over College of the Canyons. The Marauders are pushing for a playoff spot with just three regular-season games left.
AVC's defense held the Cougars to just 22.6% shooting, while the offense outscored them in all four quarters. Cierra Steemer led Antelope Valley with 24 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. The sophomore forward from Pete Knight High School recorded her 17th double-double of the season, and she currently leads the conference in rebounds per game with 12. Bridgett Ignacio went 5-7 from the 3-point line en route to scoring a season-high 20 points. She is currently fourth in the conference in 3-point field goal shooting.
Courtney Hart scored 17 points on the night with 8 rebounds. She is third in points per game (20.6) and third in rebounds (11.1) among conference leaders. Key'illa Barnes had 7 rebounds, 6 points, and a game-high 4 steals, while Amber Jordan recorded 8 rebounds and 5 points. Deja Taylor led both teams in assists with 5.
The Marauders improved to 7-4 in conference and 15-10 overall. They play Bakersfield on the road before returning home to face Citrus on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
