After dropping their first match of the season to Ventura College, AVC women's volleyball bounced back in a 3-2 win over LA Pierce. AVC outlasted the Brahmas, winning the first, third, and final set (25-15, 16-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-12)
Morgan Holman led the offense with 15 kills on .361 hitting, adding 8 digs and 6 block assists. Kalilah Laulile followed with 12 kills and 8 digs, while Cecilia Foster added 5 kills and a team-high 8 blocks. Rubi Reyes chipped in 5 kills and 5 digs.
Setter Avery Mattice directed the attack with 21 assists, also contributing 10 digs and a service ace. Defensively, Sara Herrera Quintero anchored the back row with 20 digs, and Sophia Weatherwax added 7 digs and 2 aces.
The Marauders are on the road at Allan Hancock on Sept. 24, and will start Western State Conference at Citrus on Oct. 1. Their next home match is against West LA on Friday, Oct. 3.
