MARAUDERS DOMINATE MONARCHS IN 69-13 WIN

AVC Football improved to 7-1 with a 69-13 home win over the LA Valley Monarchs. Both the Marauder offense and defense continued to play well following last week's 58-13 win over LA Southwest.
AVC totaled 700 yards of offense with 5 passing touchdowns and 4 rushing touchdowns. Three different quarterbacks, John Sanders (2), Jamal Sullivan (2), and Jacob Bryant (1), recorded touchdown passes. Bryant led in yardage, going 9-11 for 113 yards. Sullivan threw for 98 yards, and Sanders was 6-11 with 83 yards before exiting the game with an ankle injury.
Darrell Stanley had a game-high 123 yards receiving and caught 3 of the team's 5 TD passes. Azim Bankhead and Shawn Irwin recorded the other two scores in the air. Fourteen different Marauders recorded carries, with Jacob Bryant, Naim Bankhead, Jaden Graham, and Dakota Foster all reaching the endzone. Isaiah Morgan had 85 yards off 10 carries.
Taron Smith and Derrick Sterling recorded interceptions for the defense, with Smith returning his for a touchdown. The defense totaled 12 tackles for a loss, with Houston Brown, Daste Lee, Peter Atallah, and Funaki James recording sacks.
Lucas Bailey converted 8 of 9 extra-point kicks on the day.
AVC ranks 2nd in total offense in the SCFA with 48.3 PPG., and the most touchdowns (54). At 7-1 (2-1 in conference), the Marauders will look to keep the momentum headed into a Week 9 showdown with College of the Desert on Saturday, Nov. 1. Kickoff is at 3:00 pm. at Brent Carder Marauder Stadium.
