Antelope Valley College has won 7 straight games after recently sweeping Santa Barbara City College and Cuesta College in a pair of double headers.
AVC topped the Vaqueros 7-3, and 8-0, and then dominated the Cougars 13-2 and 11-2. In the Santa Barbara series, the Marauders totalled 14 hits. Kaylei Victoria and Marley Delgado led the way with 3 RBI each. Victoria, Delgado, and Mya Gonzalez all homered in game 1, while Kenzie Martinez had a series-leading 3 hits. Analise Memory,
Jeannette Camarena and Hailey Davis also recorded RBIs.
In the circle, Payton Marlin picked up the win and struck out 5 batters in the first game, with relief from Lucy Navarro and Victoria, while Hailey Davis tossed a no-hitter with 6 Ks in game two.
In the Cuesta series, AVC scored their 24 runs off 23 hits. Marley Delgado was unstoppable at the plate, belting 3 home runs with 7 RBI. The Sophomore from Coachella Valley leads the Marauders with 4 home runs on the season and has also been walked a team-high 11 times.
Jordyn Zinn had an outstanding series with 6 RBI off 3 hits, including a home run, while Kaylei Victoria had 4 hits and 3 RBI. Victoria leads the team in hits with 27 and RBI with 22. Mya Gonzalez and Analise Memory had 2 RBI each, and Hartley Lundquist recorded 2 hits, including her second home run of the year.
Starter Kaylei Victoria (3 IP, 1 K) and Payton Marlin (2 IP, 2 Ks) split pitching duties in game one's win, while Hailey Davis (3 IP, 2 Ks) and Lucy Navarro (3 IP, 5 Ks) took command in game two's victory.
AVC is 12-4 and ranks 17th in the 3C2A Coaches' Poll. They'll host Mt. San Jacinto on March 3 at 2:00 pm, and San Bernardino Valley in a doubleheader on March 5 at 12:00 and 2:00 pm.
