Antelope Valley College Softball has earned a spot in the postseason as the #9 seed, following a 29-11 regular season, including a Western State-South Conference Championship (11-1).
AVC will face Cypress College in the opening round of the 3C2A Playoffs on Friday, May 1-2, in a best-of-three series to advance.
The Marauders finished their regular-season home schedule with a 29-2 win over LA Mission in a game where they hit an astonishing 12 home runs, including 5 in a row in the 1st inning. Jeannette Camarena (3), Hartley Lundquist (2), Analise Memory (2), Tenley Puett (2), Kaylei Victoria, Jordyn Zinn, and Marley Delgado all recorded homers in the contest.
Camarena had a career day, going 4-for-4 with 9 RBI. Tenley Puett's multi-homerun day produced 6 RBI, while Kaylei Victoria went 3-for-3 with 5 RBI, and Delgado finished 4-for-5 with 2 RBI. Kaili York, Angelina Quezada, and Kenzie Martinez also recorded hits. AVC totaled 23 hits and no errors.
Hailey Davis (1.0) and Payton Marlin (4.0) split duties in the circle and combined for 4 strikeouts. Davis finished second in the conference in strikeouts with 97, and ERA at 2.83. Lucy Navarro led the conference in ERA at 2.29 and saves.
Kaylei Victoria finished the regular season with 58 RBI, ranking #3 in the state and #2 in the conference. Jordyn Zinn led the conference in home runs with 15, which placed her 3rd in the state.
As a team, the Marauders tied (San Mateo) for the most HR's with 68, and ranked 2nd in the state in RBI with 337 on the season. AVC will travel to Cypress with a 10-10 road record to start the Regional Playoffs.
