AVC Softball took a 1-0 series lead with a 7-3 road win over Cypress College.

AVC Softball took a 1-0 series lead with a 7-3 road win over Cypress College. The best-of-three series began the 3C2A SoCal Regional play on Friday.
After falling behind early, the Marauders scored 7 runs off 13 hits, with Jeannette Camarena leading the way offensively. The Sophomore catcher from Granada Hills went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, including a 3-run shot well over the left-center field fence to give the Marauders a 4-1 lead in the third inning. Camarena has 9 home runs on the season.
Kaylei Victoria also went 2-for-4 on the day, and homered in the 4th inning to give AVC a 5-2 lead. Victoria finished with 2 RBI and scored twice. Kenzie Martinez continued to provide a spark at the top of the lineup with 2 hits and 1 RBI, including a triple and a single. Hartley Lundquist went 2-for-3 with a run batted in, while both Jordyn Zinn and Kaili York went 2-for-4. Analise Memory also recorded a hit.
Hailey Davis faced 25 batters over 5 innings, and Lucy Navarro struck out 3 batters in two innings of relief to seal the win.
The regional playoff series will continue at Cypress with Game 2 on Saturday, starting at 12:00 pm, followed by Game 3 at 2:00 pm if necessary.
