After dropping the opener Friday, the Antelope Valley College softball team battled through an explosive three-game Super Regional series against Palomar College, showcasing one of the most potent offensive stretches of the season. The Marauders combined for 22 runs and 32 hits across the series, highlighted by a dramatic extra-inning walk-off win in Game 2.
In Friday's opener, AVC matched Palomar punch-for-punch early before falling 8-4. Delgado powered the offense with 2 home runs and 2 RBIs, while Hartley Lundquist also homered and drove in 2 runs. Jeannette Camarena added a pair of hits, including a double, as the Marauders collected 9 hits against the top-ranked Comets.
The Marauders responded Saturday afternoon with one of their biggest wins of the year, outlasting Palomar 11-9 in 8 innings. AVC erupted for 13 hits and blasted 4 home runs in the comeback victory. Delgado continued her dominant weekend with two more home runs and 3 RBIs, while Jordyn Zinn delivered a huge performance, including a 3-run homer. Camarena added a solo shot and finished with 2 hits, and Kaili York drove in 2 runs. Lucy Navarro contributed on both sides of the game, recording 2 hits and an RBI at the plate before helping stabilize the pitching effort. AVC sealed the win with a 5-run 8th inning, which included a Delgado walk-off home run, to force the decisive game.
In the winner-take-all finale, the Marauders again showed offensive firepower despite a 15-7 loss. AVC jumped out quickly behind Delgado's 2-run homer in the 1st inning, while Camarena and Analise Memory each drove in 2 runs. Kenzie Martinez closed her season with a perfect 4-for-4 performance and scored twice, while Zinn added an RBI double.
Delgado headlined the series for the Marauders, finishing with five home runs, 8 RBIs, and 5 runs scored over the three games. Camarena also delivered a standout postseason showing, going 5-for-10 with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs during the series. Zinn totaled 4 RBIs, while Martinez capped the weekend with 5 hits in the final two games.
Despite the season-ending defeat, AVC finished the year with a 32-13 record and proved it could compete offensively with one of California's premier programs throughout a highly entertaining Super Regional battle.
