Team Stats
Antelope Valley College Softball scored an impressive 10-2 win over the Chaffey Panthers at home. Strong pitching and timely hits were key factors in the non-conference win. The Marauders had 10 hits with no errors while holding the Panthers to 5 hits as they committed 3 errors.
Much of AVC's firepower came from Kaylei Victoria, who went 3-for-3 on the day with 5 runs batted in, including a 3-run homerun well over the center field fence. Victoria also had a double, a single, and pitched an inning to close out the game. The freshman from Quartz Hill High School leads the Marauders in RBI with 8 on the season.
Hartley Lundquist went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, while Jordyn Zinn and Jeannette Camarena both finished 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Jeannette Camarena also recorded a hit and a run batted in.
Freshman Destiny Serna pitched 4 of the game's 5 innings to pick up a win in her collegiate debut, throwing 47 strikes and striking out 3.
The Marauders move to 2-0 on the season and will next face a 3-0 Mt. San Antonio team on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at AVC. Start time is 2:00 pm.
