Antelope Valley College women's basketball recorded a lopsided victory over the Barstow Vikings on Wednesday. The 73-26 win was the team's home opener and its second of the season, following a 56-36 victory over Merritt College earlier this month.
Brianna Samarion recorded a double-double against Barstow with game-highs in points (19) and rebounds (14). Ariana Soil had 15 points with 6 steals and a team-high 4 assists, while Mya Colquitt had 13 points, 6 steals, and 5 rebounds.
Keyilla Barnes contributed 7 points and 6 steals, Shaniya Sinclair recorded 13 rebounds, and Leandriah Zachry grabbed 8 rebounds to go along with 6 points on the night.
AVC shot just over 34% from the field, while holding the Vikings to 18% shooting. The Marauders outrebounded Barstow, 55-39, and forced 37 turnovers.
Samarion leads the Marauders in scoring on the season with 9.3 points per game. The freshman from Lancaster High School also leads the team in rebounds, averaging just under 10 (9.7) per game.
AVC is 2-4 on the season and will next face Victor Valley on the road on No. 22, before returning home to host Santa Barbara on Dec. 3.
