Antelope Valley College Women's Basketball fell to 2-6 on the season after a 64-62 home loss to Santa Barbara City College.
The Marauders were narrowly outscored in the first and second periods and headed into the locker room down 28-23 at the half. They battled back to take a 42-41 lead after three quarters of play. The game would be decided with just 11 seconds left on the clock as AVC failed to convert a 3-pointer to take the lead.
Although they finished with a 38-31 rebounding advantage, the Marauders shot just over 39% from the field and converted 6 of 31 shots from behind the arc. Ariana Soil had a team-high 16 points as well as a team-best 6 assists and 5 steals. Mya Colquitt had 13 points, while Malaiyah Paulk grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with 6 points and 3 blocks.
Keyilla Barnes contributed 11 points with 6 rebounds. Brianna Samarion had 9 rebounds while Maddie Martin scored 8 points off the bench.
AVC will look to bounce back on Dec. 9 in a home contest against LA Southwest.
