AVC Women's Volleyball started their season off with a 3-1 victory over the Rio Hondo Roadrunners. The Marauders won the first set 25-14, and dropped the second set 21-25 before closing it out 25-20 and 25-22 in the final two sets.
AVC was led by the freshman duo of Morgan Holman and Kalilah Laulile. Holman, a Quartz Hill High School product, had a game-high 16 kills, while Laulile, a Highland High School graduate, had 12 kills and 8 digs. Sara Herrera Quintero had a team-high 15 digs, with setter Avery Mattice providing 25 assists and 7 digs.
Riley Ewing had 7 kills and 4 blocks, Rubi Reyes had 6 kills and 6 digs, while Ava Medrano contributed 19 assists and 7 digs.
The Marauders are on the road at LA City, Cerro Coso, and Victor Valley before returning home to face Porterville on Friday, September 5th.
