WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS WIN STREAK TO 5 WITH VICTORY OVER PORTERVILLE
AVC took care of the Pirates in straight sets 25-6, 25-19, 25-17
AVC Women's Volleyball continues to find early success with another win. Their 3-0 home victory over Porterville College brings the Marauders to a 5-0 start for the 2025 season.
"We worked hard in the summer to prepare ourselves for the new season. This year we have a great set of girls who have competitive mindsets and the skills to execute. That has made the biggest difference for us as a team this year," said head coach Bailey Green.
AVC took care of the Pirates in straight sets 25-6, 25-19, 25-17. Kalilah Laulile had a game-high 14 kills, followed by Bree Doty and Rubi Reyes, who recorded 7 kills each. Reyes also had 4 aces. Lailel leads the team in kills on the season with 62, and ranks second in the Western State Conference-South in kills per set (3.65), followed closely by teammate Morgan Holman (3.60).
Sara Herrera Quintero led all players with 11 digs, and currently leads the conference with an average of 3.93 digs per set. Avery Mattice served up a game-high 18 assists with 7 digs, while Ava Medrano had 11 assists and 5 digs. Mattice leads the Marauders with 127 assists on the year. Riley Ewing recorded 5 aces and 4 kills, and Alyssa Guzman contributed 5 digs and 2 aces.
"Each week we find ways to improve, and we are excited to keep competing with teams once conference play starts," added coach Green. AVC will next host Southwestern on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 5:00 pm.
