MARK COVERT
Mark Covert coached Marauder Men's and Women's Cross-Country and Men's and Women's Track and Field for 27 years (1990-2016).
His Women's Cross-Country team won seven conference championships, had one individual state champion (Whit Carter Hall of Famer Jean Harvey), two All-State runners, and six conference Athletes of the Year.
His Men's Cross-Country teams won two conference championships, had eight All-State runners, and had three conference Athletes of the Year.
Covert's Women's Track and Field teams won a conference championship, had 10 conference Athletes of the Year, and four State Champions.
His men's track and field teams won a conference championship, and he had 11 conference Athletes of the Year with four state champions.
Mark coached at least one athlete who competed in the State Track and Field Championships in 26 out of his 27 years at AVC.
Altogether, Covert coached 11 conference champions, nine individual state champions, and 30 conference Athletes of the Year.
He also brought the first multi-team State Championship event to AVC, as the Marauders hosted the CCCAA State Track and Field Championship in 2010. That same year, he became the first Marauder coach to be honored with the CCCCA Coaching Achievement Award.
The first person to wear Nike "Waffles" in competition, this will mark Covert's seventh enshrinement into a Hall of Fame, which includes Nike's Hall of Fame in the "Pioneer" branch, Mt. San Antonio College's
Cross Country Hall of Fame as both an athlete and a coach, the NCAA Cross-Country Hall of Fame, and the LA Valley College Hall of Fame.
